The Cordouan Light House

 A magnificent 400-year old sentry!

Dubbed « the Versailles of the sea » or « lighthouse of kings, king of lighthouses », Cordouan became a listed historic monument in 1862 and is the oldest lighthouse in Europe (XVIth century) as well as the oldest working lighthouse. This magnificent sentry 9km offshore has 6 Renaissance-style storeys and a chapel dedicated to Louis XIV. Boats to visit the lighthouse leave from Verdon harbour.
